Khaberni - A correspondent for the Syrian news channel reported that a warplane launched a raid on the sports city east of Kafr town in the southern Sweida countryside, used by rebel gangs as a weapons storage depot.
The correspondent also mentioned another raid executed near Tel Qalib in Kafr village, controlled by outlaw gangs in the southern Sweida countryside.
In related news, on Thursday, December 25, residents of Al-Sha'ab village in eastern Sweida countryside, controlled by armed gangs, demanded the deployment of security and military forces by the Syrian state to enforce law and pursue those involved in drug smuggling networks along the Syrian-Jordanian borders, according to local media reports.
Sweida 24 network reported from the residents that they live under direct threat from the armed gangs using their areas as corridors for smuggling drugs and weapons, amid lack of effective security supervision and shortage of local resources, which exacerbates their suffering and limits their ability to protect themselves and their properties.
The residents pointed out the absence of basic services for years, including the lack of clinics, schools, electricity, and water networks, which contributes to the expansion of armed gangs and deepening of risks to civilians. The area has a population of about 6,000 people, scattered across several small villages, with Al-Sha'ab village being the most notable, located in a remote border area.
These demands come less than 24 hours after the announcement by the Jordanian Armed Forces of neutralizing arms and drugs smugglers and destroying their dens in Sweida province, based on precise intelligence.
Earlier, on Wednesday, December 24, the Jordanian Army announced the launch of flares on the borders with Syria from the Sweida governorate, following several raids targeting locations of drug smuggling networks and their storage farms in the southern and eastern Sweida countryside, confirming the destruction of several factories and facilities used by these groups as bases for launching operations towards Jordanian territory, in coordination with regional partners.
