Khaberni - The General Manager of the Tourism Promotion Authority, Ramzi Al-Muayta, said that the Christmas celebrations of the Christian denominations in Jordan represent a radiant civilization image of coexistence and religious harmony, characterizing the Jordanian society, and reflect the entrenched values of love, tolerance, and shared living which are pillars of the Jordanian national identity.
Al-Muayta added that this year's Christmas events have gained a special national and humanitarian dimension by including the participation of His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, among the members of the Christian denominations in the Madaba Governorate, and his participation in the Christmas tree lighting event in a scene that embodied the meanings of high royal care, and reinforced the values of love, harmony, and shared living upon which the Jordanian society is built, confirming Jordan's established status as a global model in religious brotherhood and respect for diversity.
Al-Muayta added that this year's Christmas tree lighting events were attended by His Excellency the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Imad Hajazeen, and several dignitaries, and took place at several locations in the capital Amman and the governorates of Madaba, Balqa, Irbid, Ajloun, Zarqa, Karak, and Mafraq. The celebrations were held in public squares and urban centers within a festive family atmosphere that reflected the spirit of joy and community participation, directly contributing to the revitalization of tourism and commercial movement and enhancing domestic tourism in those areas.
Al-Muayta noted that Jordanian Christians are an integral part of the fabric of the Jordanian society, and have historically played an active role in building the modern state, asserting that this diversity based on citizenship and mutual respect is one of the main strengths upon which the Jordanian tourism message in the global markets is based.
Al-Muayta explained that the Tourism Promotion Authority gives special importance to religious tourism within its promotional plans, based on the rich religious and humanitarian heritage hosted by Jordan, and the high royal vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which calls for consolidating a comprehensive human discourse that enhances harmony among followers of religions, and turns the values of tolerance into a daily practice on the ground.
He confirmed that the harmony and cohesion between Muslims and Christians in Jordan have made it a globally exemplary model of shared living, helping to cement its image as a safe and attractive destination for visitors from various countries of the world, especially during the seasons of holidays and religious events.
He indicated that these events, executed in cooperation with official entities, churches, and local communities, are part of national efforts aimed at highlighting Jordan as a land of peace and an open spiritual message to the world, affirming that the authority will continue to support and organize such events because of their positive impact in enhancing domestic tourism, stimulating the local economy, and cementing Jordan's civilized image internationally.
Al-Muayta concluded his statement by extending congratulations to the brothers Christians of the nation on the occasion of the glorious Christmas, wishing that this blessed occasion brings more goodness, peace, and prosperity to Jordan and its people.
