Khaberni - Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, General Director of the Income and Sales Tax Department, mentioned that the department, in light of the directives of the Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, started preparing the lists of taxpayers eligible for refunds. The disbursement will take place on Sunday for about 103 thousand taxpayers, including 96 thousand employees and workers, and 7 thousand individual taxpayers who met the definitive criteria and conditions for disbursement, tax remittance, and the accuracy of their bank account numbers.
Abu Ali clarified that disbursing the remaining amount of the refund due to taxpayers, which is 60%, will be prioritized during the early months of 2026. The department will cooperate with the Ministry of Finance to expedite the disbursement of the 60%.
It is noted that the Income and Sales Tax Department started today, Thursday, the procedures for preparing and organizing the lists of taxpayers eligible for refunds, in preparation for disbursing 40% of the refunds due starting Sunday morning. The department will send mobile messages to the eligible taxpayers on their registered phones, notifying them of the disbursement and sending the refund value to the bank.
The department will continue to send text messages to the eligible recipients until the completion of disbursing refunds to the taxpayers eligible for them, totaling about 116 thousand taxpayers including employees, workers, and individuals
