Air raids likely targeting locations linked to drug smuggling in the southern countryside of AsSuwayda

The eastern southern countryside of the As-Suwayda Governorate in Syria witnessed a series of air raids targeting sites suspected of being used for storing and smuggling drugs across the border with Jordan. According to Syrian media monitored by Khaberni, the raids included the village of Al-Sha'ab to the east of the governorate, where drug smuggling networks are concentrated, in addition to other areas in the southern countryside. Sources reported that explosions can still be clearly heard in the area, indicating the ongoing air operations. Among the main targets was a raid targeting a farm believed to be used for storing drugs, owned by a well-known smuggler in the area named Imad Alloum from the village of Milh, with the farm located on the road between the villages of Khazmah and Milh in the southern countryside. These raids come in the context of ongoing Jordanian-Syrian-regional efforts to combat drug smuggling, particularly Captagon pills, from Syrian territory. It is noted that the border area between Syria and Jordan has been experiencing increased tension due to smuggling operations, with a rise in clashes and air raids in recent years.
