Khaberni - In an academic achievement reflecting the presence of Zaytoonah University of Jordan at the 2025 Global English Language Olympiad for Universities, launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the team from the university won first place in the teamwork category, supervised by Dr. Layla Al-Barqawi.
The team included the students Joud Al-Jazazi and Celine Sarhan from the College of Pharmacy, and the students Zaid Hussein and Nermin Abou Rasees from the College of Nursing, in addition to the student Hossam Hafzhi from the College of Science and Information Technology. This victory crowned a collective performance that reflected a high level of cooperation and synergy, as teamwork skills were showcased through project execution, community service initiatives, and a theatrical presentation, which were the main pillars included in the assessment.
The judging panel based their assessment on precise criteria that included team spirit, work management, problem solving, the ability to cooperate and communicate effectively, and adherence to using the English language in various presentations, reflecting the magnitude of the efforts put forth, the good preparation, and the collaborative work according to international standards.
In another achievement, the team led by Dr. Rula Abu Al-Rab won first place for their project titled Decoding the Forehand: A Machine Learning Case Study of Youth Table Tennis Players Using the Xsens Motion Capture Suit. The team included the students Rahaf Arafat from the College of Nursing, Alya Mahmoud from the College of Engineering and Technology, Saja Maaytah from the College of Arts, and Zaid Al-Omari and Mohammad Al-Fadel from the College of Architecture and Design. The project focuses on analyzing the forehand in table tennis among youth players using 3D motion capture and machine learning techniques, aimed at improving training quality, minimizing technical errors and injury risks, reflecting the importance of employing modern technology in sports performance enhancement.
This crowning achievement stands out among the competition’s accomplishments, due to the high levels of planning, research, innovation, and professional execution required, along with adherence to academic and linguistic standards amidst strong competition between participating teams.
Additionally, the team led by Dr. Hana Jarradat, consisting of students: Zaid Abou Awaad (Law), Zeina Al-Zoubi (Business Intelligence) Sama Nail (English Literature) Daren Al-Sous (Accounting), and Amal Amar (Law), achieved a notable accomplishment by winning the Best Creative Idea Award for their theatrical presentation, recognized for the excellence and depth of the idea and the creative presentation style, reflecting the level of creativity and professionalism exhibited by the participating students.
These achievements underline the commitment of Zaytoonah University of Jordan to support its students and empower them to utilize their academic, linguistic, and creative skills, enhancing their effective participation in international competitions, thereby fostering a culture of excellence and innovation on both local and global levels.
