Amman Arab University Concludes a Training Program Titled Prenatal Psychological Counseling to Enhance Mental Health among Stu

Khaberni - Within the framework of the efforts of Amman Arab University aimed at enhancing the mental health of students and developing their ability to positively deal with various psychological and life challenges, the Dean of Student Affairs / Student Counseling Department, in cooperation with the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the University, implemented a program of training workshops titled "Prenatal Psychological Counseling." The workshops were presented by Professor Dr. Suheila Banat, Dr. Ahmad Harahsheh, Dr. Feryal Al-Haj, and Dr. Khalil Al-Fioumi, faculty members at the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the university.

The aim of these workshops was to highlight the importance of psychological counseling as a preventive and developmental process that contributes to helping students understand themselves, regulate their emotions, develop psychological coping skills, in addition to enhancing their ability to make informed decisions and manage academic and social stresses. Dr. Banat discussed conflict resolution techniques from a psychological and counseling perspective during her participation, emphasizing the role of psychological counseling in helping individuals identify sources of conflict, learn effective communication skills, control their emotions, and reach constructive solutions that contribute to achieving psychological balance and improving the quality of interactions with others.

Dr. Harahsheh and Dr. Al-Haj also spoke about the effectiveness of time management and its importance in psychological counseling, explaining that time management is one of the essential skills that helps students reduce psychological stress, achieve balance between academic and personal requirements, and enhance feelings of accomplishment and self-efficacy. Dr. Al-Fioumi discussed the concept of managing change and adaptation, noting that psychological counseling plays a pivotal role in enabling individuals to adapt to personal, academic, and social changes, build psychological resilience, and deal positively with new and changing situations.

At the conclusion of the workshops, the organizers of the program affirmed that psychological counseling constitutes one of the fundamental pillars in supporting students psychologically during their university journey, due to its tangible impact on improving mental health, enhancing emotional stability, and raising academic and social performance levels. They emphasized the importance of continuing to offer comprehensive counseling programs that meet the psychological and developmental needs of students, which contributes to developing their capabilities and honing their skills.
