Emergency plan in Barcelona City and Chelsea defenders to replace Christensen

Khaberni - The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that Barcelona is seriously considering options to bolster its defense line in the January transfer window, by monitoring the English Premier League market.

The newspaper confirmed that the club has a 20-day window to activate the "long-term injury" clause for Andreas Christensen, which would allow them to sign a new defender using 80% of the Danish international's salary.

It added that intermediaries have offered prominent names to sporting director Deco for potential signings on loan, topped by Dutchman Nathan Ake (Manchester City) and Frenchman Axel Disasi (Chelsea).

"Sport" mentioned that Nathan Ake is open to leaving to get more playing time, ensuring his presence at the World Cup, while Barcelona is watching Disasi's situation, who has an offer from AC Milan but prefers to wait for an opportunity with "the Blaugrana".

The newspaper clarified in its report that coach Hansi Flick has not made a decision yet; he awaits to assess the situation of Ronald Araujo, who will return to training on December 29.

It also mentioned that Barcelona has internal solutions, such as relying more heavily on Eric Garcia at center back, while waiting for Xavi's return to reinforce the midfield in February.
