AlBakkar Decision to Terminate Services of Those Who Served 30 Years Negatively Affected the Financial Sustainability of the S

Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar said that the decision to mandatorily terminate the services of employees who have served for 30 years or more, which was stopped by the government, has caused the public sector to lose many of its competent professionals.

Al-Bakkar added on "Al-Mamlaka," that the previous decision, which had been in place for 7 years, shifted the financial burden from the treasury to the Social Security Corporation, negatively affecting the financial sustainability of the corporation.

Al-Bakkar clarified that the previous decision did not provide real job opportunities after retiring thousands, and instead "created a situation of distortion and grievance in the matter of job creation."

The Minister of Labor confirmed that the main rule is to abide by the human resources system, which allows the competent authority the authority to terminate the services of employees who meet the conditions for early retirement according to the needs of the department or institution, according to Article (100) of the Public Sector Human Resources Management System of the year 2024, noting that the previous decision, which terminates the services of employees who have completed 30 years of service or more, or have 360 contributions or more in social security, is an exception to the rule.

The Council of Ministers decided in its session chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, to stop enforcing the previous decisions that mandated the termination of services for employees who have served for 30 years or more, or have 360 contributions or more in social security, effective from Tuesday.

The decision aims to balance the organization of the governmental apparatus and control expenses, while preserving the human resources and expertise in government departments as justified by need, thereby enhancing the administrative flexibility to manage human resources according to actual demand.

The decision reinstates the authority to the competent reference—as previously practiced—to terminate the services of employees who have reached 30 years of service or more, or have 360 contributions or more in social security, according to the needs of the department or institution.
