Discovered it by Chance Barry Manilow Announces Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Khaberni - An accidental discovery of lung cancer leads Barry Manilow to an upcoming surgery, after medical examinations following bronchitis and postponed scheduled concerts.

The global singer Barry Manilow, one of the most prominent pop music stars, revealed his accidental diagnosis of lung cancer after a series of medical exams he underwent following a long struggle with bronchitis, detailing his health condition and his plan to return to the stage in the near future.

Manilow explained that he is preparing for a surgical operation aiming to remove part of his lung, as part of dealing with the disease which was discovered at an early stage, confirming that this step is within a specific treatment plan recommended by the medical team overseeing his condition.

Manilow, who is 82 years old and known for famous songs like «Copacabana» and «Mandy», said that he decided to postpone a series of his concerts that were scheduled for the upcoming period, with plans to return to the stage by Valentine’s Day in February at the Westgate Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

In a statement published through his social media accounts, Manilow said: «As many of you know, I recently suffered from bronchitis for six weeks, followed by a setback that lasted another five weeks».

He added: «Despite recovering from bronchitis and returning to the stage at Westgate Las Vegas, my doctor requested an MRI scan to be reassured and to make sure everything was fine».

He continued explaining the results of the tests: «The imaging showed a cancerous spot in my left lung, which needs to be removed. Its discovery was purely accidental, and credit goes to the doctor who insisted on early testing».

About his health developments, Manilow confirmed that the doctors do not believe the disease has spread, mentioning that they conducted additional tests to confirm the diagnosis, denying any need for chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

In this context, he said: «No chemotherapy, no radiation treatment, just chicken soup and re-watching episodes of I Love Lucy».

Manilow concluded his statement by affirming his excitement to return to his audience, saying: «I'm counting the days until I return to my second home at the Westgate Las Vegas to perform our concerts during the Valentine's weekend».
