Information Technology at Amman Arab University Participates in the Launch Ceremony of the National Study on the Digital Skill

Khaberni - Under the patronage of Engineer Sami Samirat, the Honorable Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Faculty of Information Technology at Amman Arab University participated in the launch ceremony of the national study of the digital skills gap in the Information and Communications Technology sector for the year 2025, which was held in the capital, Amman, with the participation of a group of university presidents and deans of IT colleges, along with representatives from the public and private sectors, and experts in digital skills development.

Amman Arab University was represented in this event by: Dr. Rami Sahweil, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, and Dr. Kamal Allayan, Assistant Dean of the College, in a bid to enhance its academic presence and interaction with national initiatives aimed at developing digital skills and aligning educational outputs with labor market requirements.

The study titled "Analysis of Supply and Demand Gap for Digital Skills in the Information and Communications Technology Sector in Jordan," addressed the reality of the digital skills ecosystem and labor market needs. The results revealed the strength of Jordan's digital skills system, with 12,000 IT and communications graduates in 2024/2025, establishing the kingdom as a leading country in the region in providing qualified talents in this sector, and enhancing its growing competitiveness in the digital economy. The study also highlighted that the workforce in the IT and communications sector in Jordan reached 47,840 workers in 2025, with women comprising 33% of the total workforce, while their representation in leadership positions did not exceed 4%. The participants emphasized the importance of the study as a national reference that supports decision-makers in developing programs for digital skills development and youth empowerment. It is noted that the 2025 study represents a comprehensive update of the previous study launched in 2022, conducted by Better Business in collaboration with the Information Technology and Communications Companies Association (Intaj).

On this occasion, Dr. Sahweil confirmed that Amman Arab University, in line with the national study, will coordinate with private sector companies and institutions to implement field training programs for its students, link graduation projects with labor market needs and the requirements of companies operating in the IT and communications sector, contributing to enhancing the practical aspect and providing students with direct practical experience. He also referred to the university's efforts to avail additional training opportunities offered by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, encouraging students to participate in them, and to motivate them to acquire professional certifications recommended by the study, thereby enhancing their competitive skill level and boosting their employment prospects after graduation.

It is worth noting that Amman Arab University's participation in this national event stems from its commitment to developing its academic programs in alignment with the requirements of the digital economy, and enhancing partnerships with the public and private sectors, contributing to the preparation of students with modern digital skills capable of competing in the local and regional labor market.
