Khaberni - The fourth Iraqi channel witnessed a controversial incident during an episode of the program "9 Minus Ten," after presenter Salma Al-Hajj asked her guest Fahd Al-Jubouri, a member of the Wisdom Stream, to put down his phone and listen to other guests out of respect for them and the audience.
This came after it was noticed that "Al-Jubouri" remained occupied with his phone for long periods since the beginning of the episode, which the presenter described as affecting the progress and quality of the dialogue.
However, the guest responded, saying: "Holding the phone is not disrespectful; there might be an urgent message... I do not accept this style of dialogue, you will not teach me how to respect the guests, I am not distracted by playing with the phone to be told this... and I apologize, but I will not complete the episode," before he left the program on air.
This situation sparked wide debate about the etiquette of dialogue and discipline on screen, with opinions divided between those supporting the presenter's stance and her desire to organize the discussion civilly, while others praised the guest's reaction and his refusal to be treated in such a manner on air.
The channel confirmed that the presenter, Salma Al-Hajj, urging the guest to adhere to the rules of dialogue and to focus on the discussion out of respect for the participating guests and the audience, came as part of her professional duty and media responsibility in managing a serious and responsible discussion.
The channel also emphasized its commitment to presenting professional dialogue programs that respect the rules of journalism and its norms, prioritizing the awareness of the viewer and their right to knowledge.
