Turkey Abdominal Pain Reveals Smuggling of 49 Hashish Capsules Inside the Body of a Moroccan Traveler

Khaberni - Acute abdominal pain revealed an attempt to smuggle drugs inside the body of a Moroccan traveler in Istanbul, Turkey, in a peculiar incident that attracted the attention of medical and security authorities.

According to media reports, a 52-year-old Moroccan man arrived in Turkey from Morocco on a flight, and two days after his arrival, he went to a private hospital in the Volya area complaining of severe abdominal pains.

After undergoing a CT scan, it was found that there were foreign materials in his stomach and intestines suspected to be drugs, prompting the doctors to immediately call the police.

Indeed, the Beşiktaş Public Security Police teams began investigating the incident in coordination with the medical staff, and the patient underwent surgery during which 49 capsules of hashish were extracted, weighing a total of 259.7 grams.

After completing treatment, the suspect was taken for questioning, and then the police referred him to the court on charges of drug trafficking, which ordered his remand in custody. Investigations also revealed that the suspect had a prior criminal record in Turkey, including various assault crimes.
