Vince Zampella, one of the creators of the famous video game "Call of Duty", died in a car accident according to American media on Monday.
The American channel "NBC 4" reported that Zampella was killed on Sunday while driving his Ferrari on a road in North Los Angeles.
Zampella was renowned for his participation in developing the "Call of Duty" series and founding "Respawn Entertainment", the studio behind games like "Titanfall", "Apex Legends", and "Star Wars Jedi".
His studios produced some of the world’s best-selling video games.
After starting his career in the nineties as a first-person shooter game designer, he co-founded "Infinity Ward" in 2002 and helped launch the game "Call of Duty" in 2003, which was later acquired by "Activision".
Zampella left "Activision" under controversial circumstances and founded "Respawn" in 2010, which was acquired by "Electronic Arts" in 2017.
At "Electronic Arts", Zampella took charge of reviving the "Battlefield" series, cementing his reputation as one of the most influential figures in the first-person shooter game genre.
