JordanianEgyptian Agreement on Improving Technical Coordination and Oversight at Crossings

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport Fares Abu Dayya chaired the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Egyptian technical committee for land transportation held in Amman, with the attendance of a high-level Egyptian delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Land Transport, Major General Engineer Majed Abdel Hamid, along with participating entities from both sides.

The meetings focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of land transportation and develop joint work mechanisms to facilitate the movement of dry and refrigerated trucks between the two countries, improve the efficiency of goods flow, and support the movement of intra-regional and transit trade positively impacting the economies of both countries.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Fares Abu Dayya, and the Deputy Minister of Egyptian Transport, Abdel Hamid, signed the meeting minutes, where both sides reached a series of practical agreements that included simplifying operational procedures, addressing challenges facing transporters, and improving technical coordination and regulatory oversight at the crossings, alongside enhancing the integration between land and maritime transport through ports, supporting supply chains, reducing the costs of transportation and time.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport welcomed the Egyptian delegation during the meeting, emphasizing the solid Jordanian-Egyptian relations based on a strategic and historical partnership, highlighting the importance of deepening cooperation in the transport sector as a primary driver of economic and trade relations between the two countries, and Jordan's commitment to fostering a flexible and safe transport environment that supports trade exchange.

For his part, the head of the Egyptian delegation, Major General Engineer Majed Abdel Hamid, affirmed the depth of the brotherly relations between Egypt and Jordan, the importance of building on the practical understandings reached, and the Egyptian side's commitment to enhancing technical and regulatory cooperation in the field of land transport, which contributes to facilitating truck movement, achieving joint interests, and supporting the flow of trade between the two countries.
