AlArmouti Priority should be lowering gas tax for the poor not on cigarettes and tobacco

Khaberni - Saleh Al-Armouti, leader of the Islamic Action Front parliamentary bloc, criticized the government for lowering the tax on tobacco derivatives and cigarettes, urging the government to reverse this decision and affirm that the priority should be lowering the tax for the poor, the needy, and on gas and diesel in this difficult and complex circumstance.

Al-Armouti said in the legislative session this Monday morning: "Today, the first system for reducing the tax on tobacco derivatives and cigarettes was issued, and I know that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health are sports enthusiasts, so is it reasonable for them to proceed with such a decision."

That's why I criticize it.

He pointed out that a number of campaigns in schools and universities were held against smoking, while we see ministers smoking electronic cigarettes during committee meetings, emphasizing that "this issue has become concerning."

He added: "I demand the government to reconsider the decision."

In another context, Al-Armouti called on the parliament to issue a statement against Netanyahu and his blatant assault on Al-Aqsa Mosque, his statements, and to address European parliaments to show our support for our state.

On another note, he praised the achievements of our national football team, saying: "Regarding our national unity, our brave champions have reinforced the Jordanian unity."
