Jordan Extensive campaign to control unlicensed vehicles

Khaberni - The Deputy Director of Traffic Management, Colonel Raed Al-Faouri, announced the start of an extensive security and supervisory campaign targeting vehicles with expired licenses.

Colonel Al-Faouri confirmed in a radio interview today, Monday, that the Licensing Administration will not tolerate any negligence in enforcing the law and implementing stringent legal measures against violators.

This step comes as part of the ongoing efforts to enforce the law and protect the security and safety of the community.

Colonel Al-Faouri explained that vehicles with expired licenses lack valid insurance coverage, which leads to the loss of citizens' rights in the event of traffic accidents and imposes an additional financial and legal burden on the driver of the violating vehicle.

He urged all vehicle owners to hasten to rectify their legal situation and renew their licenses and insurance policies, to avoid legal accountability and to guarantee the rights of everyone.

Regarding the penalties for driving with an expired vehicle license, Colonel Al-Faouri explained that the penalties would be applied progressively and to all types of vehicles without discrimination, based on the duration of the license expiration, as follows:

From one day up to a month: a traffic violation ticket will be issued to the driver.

From a month to less than 3 months: a traffic violation along with impounding the driver's licenses.

From 3 months and beyond: the more severe punishment applies, which includes both impounding the driver’s license and the vehicle.

The Public Security Directorate warned yesterday, Sunday, about the dangers and implications of driving unlicensed vehicles, stating that doing so is a severe traffic violation, threatening the safety of road users.

The Directorate clarified that an expired vehicle license often accompanies a lack of technical inspection and maintenance of the vehicle, which may involve potential serious technical faults in essential safety systems such as brakes, tires, and lighting, which are primary causes of traffic accidents.

The Public Security Directorate emphasized that it will conduct special campaigns to monitor this violation and will not be lenient in enforcing the law and taking necessary measures against it, striving to enforce the law and protect the community, noting that most vehicles with expired licenses also have expired insurance contracts, resulting in the loss of others' rights and imposing an additional burden on the driver of the vehicle.

The Directorate called on all vehicle owners and relevant parties to take the initiative to promptly rectify the status of their vehicles, enhancing their community responsibility in creating a safer road environment.
