Khaberni - Egyptian actor Ahmed El Awadi discusses his separation from actress Yasmine Abdelaziz, in his first extensive comment after the controversy stirred recently following his ex-wife's appearance in a television interview where she expressed regret over some of her past relationships and criticized the series "Shooting Fire," which brought them together as artists.
During his interview with media personality Essaad Younis on the program "The Owner of Happiness," El Awadi confirmed that the separation issue had ended a long time ago, clarifying that the divorce was officially finalized in 2024, and that this file has been completely closed for about two years, according to him, pointing out that his name was not explicitly mentioned in the circulated statements, so he sees no reason to respond to what was said or to enter into interpretations that do not concern him.
Ahmed El Awadi emphasized his firm stance and the clarity of his word, saying that his principle does not change with changing circumstances or mood, and he absolutely refuses to discuss any relationship that has ended, stemming from a firm belief he was raised on that "houses are secrets," and any past relationship should only be mentioned in a good light.
He added that marriage is a relationship that holds a special sanctity, and any hint or statement might be considered a violation of that sanctity, explaining that divorce is not injustice, as Islamic law has permitted marriage and divorce, pointing out that the real injustice is in neglecting rights, such as harming children or shirking responsibilities, not in the occurrence of the divorce itself.
El Awadi confirmed his keenness on his image in front of the audience, noting that he prides himself on being "a son of the country" with roots, and that his genuine audience knows he could never appear in a media program and speak in a manner that disrespects him or a woman with whom he had a past relationship, stressing that every word spoken by a man is measured, and he refuses to issue statements that could be interpreted in more than one way, due to the potential harm or distortion it could cause to previous relationships.
He also emphasized his respect and appreciation for every woman who has been a part of his life, whether as a wife, fiancée, or friend, affirming that he would not be drawn into a media dispute no matter what is said, and that he prefers silence over response.
In a related context, Ahmed El Awadi revealed that he is currently engaged, and that he is preparing for marriage soon, although he refused to disclose any details about the identity of his future life partner, or whether she is from the artistic milieu or outside it.
It is noted that Ahmed El Awadi had married Yasmine Abdelaziz after a love story that began during their collaboration in the series "To the Last Breath" in 2019, before they announced their marriage officially in 2020.
El Awadi stood by his wife at the time during her health crisis in 2021, but their relationship later experienced rumors of disputes in 2023, when they confirmed that it was nothing more than "a simple rebuke," and on January 16, 2024, their separation was officially announced after a marriage of nearly five years.
