Last Saturday evening, Giza Governorate in Egypt witnessed a horrific accident, which resulted in severe losses after a heavy truck tragically fell from a bridge.
A heavy truck "trailer" fell from the top of the Tersa bridge in the Mariouteya area, instantly killing the driver and shattering three cars that were traveling below the road, before the fire spread to a nearby cafe, cafe, and residential property, according to security sources and eyewitnesses.
The accident occurred after the steering wheel slipped from the driver's hand, causing the trailer to collide with the bridge railing and slide on the road, in a horrifying scene that turned the area into complete chaos, as locals and passersby tried to intervene to save the driver but to no avail.
The flames quickly spread from the vehicle to the surrounding buildings, where fires erupted in a cafe and cafe, then spread to two floors of a residential property, prompting residents to flee to the streets in panic, while fire trucks and rescue vehicles rushed to contain the fire.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the explosion of the fuel tank contributed to the spread of the fire, while surveillance cameras captured moments of dense smoke and flames that covered the area, amidst screams for help filling the place.
Multiple fire trucks were dispatched to the scene, and the fire was completely contained with no additional injuries recorded among the residents of the building, while the body of the deceased driver was transported to the morgue at the disposal of the investigating authorities.
