The Kremlin sets a condition for a PutinMacron meeting

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron if there is mutual political will.

The Russian news agency quoted Peskov as saying today, Sunday, "If there is mutual political will, the matter can only be seen positively".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Washington suggested holding the first direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in six months, coinciding with the arrival of diplomats in Miami for a new round of talks aimed at ending the war.

The last official direct meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations was in July (July) in Istanbul, resulting in prisoner exchanges, without significant progress in the negotiation process.

Macron considered that it "will again be beneficial" for him and the Europeans to engage in dialogue with Russian President Putin.

Macron said: "I see it in our interest, both Europeans and Ukrainians, to find suitable ground to resume the dialogue.. It is up to the Europeans to find a way to achieve this in the coming weeks."

He explained that "Despite the European Union's ongoing commitment to financing and supporting Ukraine, it is necessary in the coming weeks to find ways and mechanisms that allow the resumption of a full dialogue with Russia".

It is worth mentioning that in July of last year, Putin and Macron had their first phone call in three years.
