Instead of disposing of the old case, the company invites you to return it, where they will recycle and melt it down, then manufacture it from the same recycled plastic, instead of starting with new materials.
This case is called "Forever Phone Case" which means "Eternal Phone Case", and it is built on the idea that a phone case should last longer than the phone itself, according to a report by "Digital Trends," a specialized technology news site.
The company manufactures each case by hand in Brighton, UK, using 100% recycled plastic, which means that no two covers are exactly alike.
When you want to buy a new device or renew your phone case, "Gumi" reshapes the plastic of your current case into another case or even into a different Gumi product, keeping the plastic in use instead of sending it to a landfill.
The "Forever Phone Case" is now available for pre-order at a price of 55 British pounds (about 74 dollars), and it will be officially launched in January 2026.
In the event of replacing the phone with a new one later, Gumi charges 20 British pounds (about 27 dollars) to reshape the case to fit the new model.
The company also allows buyers flexibility in choosing features; they can opt to add MagSafe compatibility for an additional cost. The "MagSafe" option adds a magnetic ring inside the cover to securely hold chargers, wallets, and charging docks in place.
