Despite the strict secrecy that surrounded Apple's future plans, extensive leaks revealed new "iPhone" models expected to be launched in the next two years, 2026 and 2027.
According to "Thomas Guide," the iPhone roadmap spans two years and includes 8 phones with internal codenames, some familiar and some with major surprises, as follows:
1- Releases for 2026
iPhone "17e": Release 159
iPhone "18 Pro": Release 63
iPhone "18 Pro Max": Release 64
iPhone Fold: V68
2- Releases for 2027
iPhone "18": Release 67
iPhone "18e": V69
iPhone "Air 2": Release 62
iPhone "20": Release 72
The leak list reveals a gap in the launch dates, reinforcing old rumors about Apple's intention to split iPhone launch timings, launching higher-priced models in the fall (September), while less expensive models in the spring, similar to this year's "iPhone 16e."
A closer look at the anticipated "iPhone 17" models
After Apple replaced the iPhone "SE" series with the "e" series, the iPhone "16e" came with the body of the iPhone "14", full support for "Apple Intelligence" features, and according to leaks, iPhone "17e" will offer limited improvements including: a more advanced glass chassis, support for magnetic charging, and an upgrade to the A19 processor.
After the radical change in the design of the "iPhone 17 Pro" camera, no significant external changes are expected, except possibly adopting a transparent glass touch on the back.
But the real leap might be inside the phone, where "Face ID" will be moved under the screen, eliminating "Dynamic Island," and moving the selfie camera to the top left corner.
Performance-wise, this series might see Apple's first switch to "2 nanometer" technology with the "A20" processor, in collaboration with "TSMC," meaning higher performance and lower power consumption.
The foldable iPhone "iPhone Fold"
Finally, it seems Apple is ready to enter the world of foldable phones. According to "Digital Chat Station" leaks, the anticipated foldable phone will feature a 7.58-inch inner display, a 5.25-inch outer display, a dual rear camera with 48-megapixel resolution, and a 24-megapixel front camera under the screen.
This phone will also come with an ultra-durable hinge, and a price tag that may reach $2399, about $500 more than the "iPhone 17 Pro Max".
What's new in iPhone "18" and "18e"?
Information about these models is still limited, but they are expected to launch in spring 2027. It is expected that "iPhone 18" will have a smaller "Dynamic Island," with the ongoing absence of "Face ID" under the screen for non-Pro models, and it is likely that Apple will expand the use of the new modem: "C2 instead of C1X".
It is still unclear whether this category will get 2-nanometer processors or settle for a 3-nanometer version.
Return of "iPhone Air 2" - iPhone Air 2
Reports indicate that Apple stopped the trial production of "iPhone Air 2" last November due to low sales, however, leaks suggest a redesign of the phone, with the addition of a second camera, or a price reduction to make the ultra-thin phone more attractive.
A possible launch date is still expected to be in spring 2027.
Surprises about "iPhone 20".. A buttonless phone
As it did with the "iPhone X", Apple may skip the name "iPhone 19" and celebrate the twentieth anniversary by launching "iPhone 20".
It is expected that "iPhone 20" will feature a curved screen covering all sides, a frameless full titanium body, and a thin metal strip in the middle, with the mechanical buttons replaced by embedded electronic buttons.
By 2027, Apple may offer seven different iPhone models at the same time, an unprecedented expansion in the series history.
Pricing remains in the realms of the unknown
As for pricing, it is still a major question mark, especially with the sharp increase in memory (RAM) prices and high global cost pressures.
So far, Apple has maintained relative price stability, but all indications suggest that the next two years might see more expensive iPhones, or models with more carefully considered specifications.
