Catastrophic Comedy Tom Cruise Unveils First Promo for His New Movie Digger

International star Tom Cruise reveals the first teaser trailer for his anticipated film titled "Digger" (Digger), set to premiere on October 2, 2026.

The film is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and marks his first cinematic work since his last film "Bardo" in 2022. It signifies a notable shift in the nature of the director’s and hero's works, as the film is described as a "catastrophic comedy," moving away from the action movies that Cruise has been famous for in recent years.

In the first promotional trailer, Tom Cruise is seen dancing while holding a shovel, without providing any clear context for the events, along with the official logo of the film, which reflects the mysterious nature that characterizes the early promotion of the film.

According to the official summary issued by Warner Brothers, Cruise plays the character "Digger Rockwell," described as "the strongest man in the world," who embarks on a daunting mission to prove he is "the savior of humanity" before his actions lead to a global disaster, suggesting a satirical touch that blends comedic elements with heightened stakes.

The film features an impressive cast including: Sandra Heller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Riz Ahmed, Emma D’Arcy.

Iñárritu is also a producer on the film, relying on a script written in collaboration with his usual team: Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Armando Bo, while Cruise also serves as a producer, continuing his increasing involvement behind the camera in major film projects.

The film, scheduled to premiere in cinemas on October 2, 2026, is expected by observers to have its first screening at the Venice Film Festival in September, given Iñárritu's history of showcasing his films at this festival, including: "Birdman," "21 Grams," and "Bardo".
