AlZayoud Emphasizes the Importance of Unifying Arab Union Positions During the Visit of the Egyptian Delegation

The General Union of Petroleum and Chemical Workers in Jordan, chaired by unionist Khaled Al-Zayoud and its council members, received the union delegation representing the General Union of Petroleum Workers in the Arab Republic of Egypt visiting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, within the framework of an official visit aimed at enhancing Arab union relations and strengthening the ties of joint cooperation between the two unions.

President of the General Union, Khaled Al-Zayoud, in a press statement covered by the media, clarified the importance of this visit and its positive outcomes, including the signing of a joint cooperation protocol between the two sides, during the final meeting which featured a ceremonial honoring of the guest delegation with a wide attendance of unionists.

Al-Zayoud explained that the cooperation protocol stipulates the development of labor relations and the coordination of union positions in alignment with the policies of both countries towards shared Arab issues, emphasizing the unity of the Arab ranks, the rejection of interference in domestic affairs, and respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The agreement also included documenting professional and training programs aimed at enhancing capacities and skills among union leaders and workers, especially in the fields of collective bargaining, social dialogue, and occupational safety and health, in addition to logistical programs related to the petroleum industry and oil and gas exploration operations.

Al-Zayoud noted that these efforts were bolstered by a meeting with the Minister of Labor, Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, who urged both parties to develop work skills and benefit from shared experiences and expertise, contributing to improving production methods and advancing the petroleum industry technologically and technically.

On another note, the CEO of the Jordanian Petroleum Refinery Company received the Egyptian union delegation in his office, where an extensive dialogue took place emphasizing the importance of enhancing technical and professional cooperation, and benefiting from the institutes and training centers of both parties to develop this vital industry.

Both parties affirmed that this visit and agreement represent an advanced step towards shaping a new union strategy, keeping pace with economic transformations and challenges facing the region, and enhancing the concepts of economic solidarity and integration at both union and industrial levels. The agreement also emphasized inviting representatives of economic and social institutions, and the three production parties (government, employers, and worker representatives), to support efforts aimed at establishing a joint Arab economic market, enhancing Arab markets, and prioritizing them as an alternative to foreign markets.

At the end of the visit, both parties signed the joint cooperation agreement between the General Union of Petroleum and Chemical Workers in Jordan and the General Union of Petroleum Workers in the Arab Republic of Egypt, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing joint Arab union work and serving the issues of workers in both countries.
