Arab Potash Company has strengthened its presence in global markets by signing a long-term strategic supply agreement with the international company "Yara" (Yara International ASA), a Norwegian company, one of the largest global companies in the production and distribution of fertilizers.
The agreement was signed on Monday in Zurich – Switzerland, attended by the Chairman of the Board of Arab Potash Company, Engineer Shahada Abu Hudaib, where it was signed on behalf of the company by CEO Dr. Maen Al-Nsour, and Vice President of Arab Potash Company – Europe, Engineer Rashid Al-Loubani, while it was signed on behalf of the "Yara" group by Frederik Schutz, Senior Vice President of Procurement, Jacob Traider, Vice President – Potash Procurement Division, and Erik Christopher Reinskou, Executive Director of Potash Procurements.
This partnership represents a qualitative step within the plans of "Arab Potash" to enhance its position in profitable markets, and to strengthen Jordan's contribution to the global food security system.
The agreement aims to supply "Yara" with annual quantities of potash to cover the needs of the "Yara" group in global markets, thereby enhancing the presence of Arab Potash Company’s products in the most strategic markets with high demand.
Under this agreement, the potash quantities will primarily be supplied by Arab Potash Company in Jordan, with logistical support provided by APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG, ensuring efficiency and continuity of the supply operations to the target markets.
Chairman of the Board of Arab Potash Company, Engineer Shahada Abu Hudaib, said: "This agreement represents an important milestone in the company's journey, reflecting the increasing trust in Jordanian potash globally, especially by the fertilizer industry giant, Yara. It also solidifies the company’s ability to meet the requirements of major consumers according to the highest standards of quality and logistical efficiency."
Engineer Abu Hudaib emphasized that this agreement is in line with the foundations of the economic modernization vision, which prioritizes the mining sector and manufacturing industries as a core growth driver, affirming the company's commitment to translating royal visions aimed at maximizing the added value of national industries and increasing their contribution to the gross domestic product through distinctive global partnerships.
Meanwhile, CEO of Arab Potash Company, Dr. Maen Al-Nsour, stated that this agreement aligns with the company's strategy to expand its presence in key global markets, especially the European market, known for its high requirements and advanced standards, noting that the partnership with "Yara" represents a quality achievement that enhances the company’s position in advanced markets, confirming the excellence of Jordanian potash as a high-quality product, meeting the needs of major consumers in the fertilizer sector.
Dr. Al-Nsour highlighted that Arab Potash Company has managed to establish a sustainable presence in Europe despite the strict environmental policies and complex regulatory standards in these markets, thanks to adopting a comprehensive system of sustainability and environmental awareness, which included improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and responsibly managing natural resources, thereby enhancing trust among key European customers and ensuring compliance with the highest standards of quality and logistical efficiency in supply operations.
In turn, the First Vice President of Arab Potash Company – Europe, Engineer Rashid Al-Loubani, stated that the agreement would enhance the strategic positioning of Arab Potash Company in Europe through improved trade and logistical integration, pointing to the pivotal role played by APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG and the APC Brazil Fertilizantes office in Sao Paulo in ensuring efficient and reliable supply.
This agreement marks a growing path of cooperation between the two sides, where "Yara" was one of the largest buyers of potash from Arab Potash Company in 2024, with expectations to maintain this momentum and increase quantities in the future in light of global geopolitical changes that have strengthened the position of Jordanian potash as a main and reliable supplier supporting global food security.
