Jordanian Scientific Achievement Issa Barhoom wins the Sharjah Prize for Linguistic Studies

Khaberni -   Professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts, Hashemite University, Dr. Issa Barhoom, won the Sharjah International Prize for Linguistic and Lexicographical Studies for 2025 for his book "The Bonds of the Text: Textual Linguistic Studies in Poetry and Narrative".

The university stated in a statement that this distinguished scientific achievement reflects the research competence of its faculty members, confirms the university's active presence in Arab scientific forums, and its contribution to serving the Arabic language and contemporary linguistic studies.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Sharjah, honored the winners in various aspects of the prize last Thursday, in the presence of a group of researchers and academicians.

It is worth noting that Dr. Barhoom has won several prestigious awards, including the Arab Geographical Literature Award for the best Arabic realization of travel literature, organized by Abu Dhabi and London, the Distinguished Researcher Award from the Jordanian University, and the Essay and Thought Award. He also owns several publications in the fields of linguistics and civilization, in addition to dozens of peer-reviewed scientific researches and outstanding participations in international, regional, and local conferences.

The Sharjah Award is considered one of the most prestigious international awards that researchers from within the Arab world and abroad compete for, as the entries are subjected to rigorous scientific arbitration by a group of elite scholars from various Arab countries.
