iPhone Fold Announced in 2026 but users may wait until 2027

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who specializes in Apple's supply chain, has revealed new details about the production timeline of the foldable iPhone, which is said to be named "iPhone Fold".

The analyst said that the development of Apple's first foldable iPhone is behind prior expectations, but the product is still expected to be announced in the second half of 2026.

He added that due to production challenges in the early stages and increased production, shipments might not smoothly begin until 2027, according to a report seen by "Arabiya Business" from "9to5Mac," a site specialized in technology news.

He indicated that with limited supply and strong demand expectations, the foldable iPhone might face a shortage at least until the end of 2026.

Therefore, the analyst believes that the anticipated foldable iPhone next year may be similar to the iPhone X, where it will be announced on schedule, but sales or mass production could be relatively delayed. Users might actually get the phone towards the end of the year, or even in the following year.

The analyst stated that "Apple" considers the iPhone Fold a product that must be launched next year, "even if the quantities are small," because foldable phones could be the next major evolution of smartphones before smart reality glasses equipped with screens replace them.

He also noted that although Apple is estimated to ship between 8 and 10 million units next year, "it is likely that the shipping estimates will be revised."

He said, "I have spoken with many customers, and some of them estimate smaller quantities... And given the difficulties in scaling production, and because the specifications may not be finalized until the end of the year, it's likely the shipping estimates will be revised."
