The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the decision of the UN General Assembly to adopt the appointment of former Iraqi President Barham Salih as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, wishing him success in his duties.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, affirmed the Kingdom's full support for the work of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and the important role it plays in protecting the rights of refugees, emphasizing the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination with it to ensure necessary support to provide a decent life for refugees, and assist host countries to bear the burdens of refuge.
Al-Majali also expressed the Kingdom's appreciation for the efforts exerted by the former High Commissioner, Filippo Grandi, during his tenure.
