The European Football Association "UEFA" announced last Thursday that the Spain national team, crowned European Cup champions, will face the Argentina national team, champions of Copa America, in the "Finalissima" match.
The match is scheduled to take place in Qatar during March of next year.
This revival of the matchup between the champions of the two continents in 2021 was made possible through joint coordination between UEFA and the South American Football Confederation "CONMEBOL", amid their opposition to the FIFA proposal to hold the World Cup every two years.
The Argentine national team, led by Lionel Messi, had previously won the last edition of the tournament by defeating Italy with three goals to none in 2022, in the match held at Wembley Stadium, before the Latin team returned to "Lusail Stadium" in Qatar, where they were crowned World Cup champions three years ago.
The match is scheduled to take place on March 27, 2026, and will start at 9:00 P.M. local time (22:00 Abu Dhabi time).
Historically, the Spanish and Argentine national teams have faced each other in 14 previous encounters, with each team winning six times.
