Khaberni - Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raed Abu Al-Saud inaugurates the operation of the photovoltaic solar energy project at Zara-Maeen station in the presence of the European Union Ambassador Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, with the attendance of Water Authority Secretary-General Engineer Sofyan Bataineh, CEO of Miyahuna, Eng. Mohammad Al-Auran, and representatives from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD with a capacity of 1 megawatt and annual production of 2.6 gigawatts valued at 1.2 million dinars funded as a grant from the European Union EU and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD. This will save a quarter of a million dinars annually from the operation costs for the benefit of Jordan Water Company-Miyahuna, within the renewable energy projects launched with support from the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD worth 30 million euros with a capacity of 24 megawells and annual production of 80 gigawells to supply water sources and reduce operation costs by 8 million dinars annually.
The Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to both the European Union EU and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD for ensuring the strategic goals of the water sector in reducing operational costs and improving service to citizens and sustainability of water services, and enhancing the local environment through reducing greenhouse gas emissions, providing a clean source of energy, and job opportunities that achieve sustainable development.
