Doctor The immune system needs to interact with others not sterilization

Khaberni - Khaberni - Dr. Vladimir Polibuk, an immunology and allergy specialist, indicates that household germs do not boost the immune system, but that social interaction with others is the key factor that strengthens it.

The doctor explained that the frequency of house cleaning does not decisively affect the performance of the immune system, as humans acquire most germs and viruses from outdoors, through interactions with others in public transportation, educational institutions, and public places. These interactions provide natural training for the immune system.

He said, "Immunity is formed through regular contact with germs, viruses, and other microorganisms. Without this stimulation, the immune system becomes dormant and weakens its response to irritants. Also, the main sources of microbes are not at home, but outdoors, and therefore, domestic cleanliness cannot weaken the immune system if a person lives an active, not isolated, life."

He pointed out that an excessive desire for sterilization is not beneficial, while neglecting cleanliness leads to health risks, as harmful microorganisms and bacteria that cause decay and mold can proliferate, possibly causing respiratory infections and allergies.

He added, "If trash is not disposed of and the residence is not cleaned, mold and microbes causing decay will grow, which irritates the respiratory system and may cause allergies. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain a balance; cleanliness is important, but turning the home into a sterilized laboratory is not a good idea."

He confirmed that maintaining cleanliness should be reasonable and proportionate to one’s lifestyle; a person who enjoys an active social life receives adequate immune stimulation outdoors, while indoors, the focus should be on providing a comfortable and safe environment.
