Khaberni - In his first response to the judicial ruling issued against him, Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan denied the accuracy of the reports about his imprisonment for two years, stating that the verdict was issued with a stay of execution, and what is published about him going to jail is "just rumors".
Ramadan posted a video on his official accounts, appearing while exercising in the gym, explaining that he had just finished a meeting with the organizers of his upcoming concert in the United States, scheduled to be held on January 17, and said that the organizers asked about the news regarding the ruling and its impact on the concert, and he responded saying: "Of course rumors, and I am with my audience on January 17".
The artist touched on what he described as "negative news" circulating in Egypt, indicating that he sees his country "loves him and is concerned for him," considering that the repeated criticisms aim to motivate him, and he affirmed that these pressures did not prevent him from preparing to deliver a strong performance in New York.
In a comment attached to the video, Mohamed Ramadan apologized to his family, friends, and fans, because of what he described as a series of judicial news that has been following him for 7 years, saying "a month cannot pass without news of a new judgment about me and my family, and recently my son".
He spoke directly about the latest case, explaining that he owns the censorship permit for the song, yet a verdict was issued to imprison him with a stay of execution, and criticized what he considered the lack of press clarification of the nature of the ruling, considering that it caused harm to him and his family.
The origin of the case
The court recently upheld the ruling to imprison the artist for two years in a case related to publishing the song "Number One Ya Ansas" on YouTube, without obtaining the necessary permits, after rejecting the appeal submitted by his defense.
The court had previously sentenced Ramadan based on a complaint accusing the artist of publishing a song considered, according to the complaint, contrary to societal values and inciting violence, which remains a subject of wide debate in artistic and media circles.
