Discovery of a Giant Rat on Board a Flight Affects 250 Passengers

Khaberni - The discovery of a giant rat inside a KLM Dutch Airlines aircraft caused a disruption in the flight schedule and the cancellation of travel for hundreds of passengers, after the company was forced to take the aircraft out of service for safety reasons.

The Airbus A330 aircraft was scheduled to fly from Amsterdam to Aruba and then continue its journey to the island of Bonaire on December 10, before the presence of the rat was detected during the aircraft’s flight over the ocean, prompting the pilot to divert the flight to Aruba as a safe destination.

More than 250 passengers, who were waiting to travel to Bonaire or return to Amsterdam, were informed of the flight cancellation after the aircraft was taken out of service for a thorough cleaning, according to the company.

A KLM spokesperson told the Independent that the incident was "extremely exceptional," emphasizing that the safety and comfort of passengers and crew are the company's top priorities, explaining that the decision to cancel the flight was made to allow for a thorough cleaning of the aircraft before it was put back into operation, according to "Times of India".

Inside the cabin, the passengers remained calm while the crew closely monitored the rat, ensuring that it did not approach the food, according to RTL News. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the rodent move along the top of a curtain rail before jumping onto the overhead luggage compartments and storage units.
