Khaberni - The Senate discusses Thursday morning, the budget law draft for the fiscal year 2026.
The financial and economic committee in the Senate approved the budget law draft for the fiscal year on Monday, as received from the House of Representatives.
The meeting was held in a separate evening session, after the committee reviewed the budget law draft in its morning session, attended by the Minister of Finance Abd al-Hakim al-Shibli.
Al-Mashar said the meeting was held to discuss the contents of the budget law draft for the fiscal year 2026 and to discuss aligning the allocations identified for projects in 2026 with the economic modernization roadmap and its implementation program.
He pointed out that the meeting with the Ministry of Finance took place after a series of meetings that discussed through the committee the projects, plans, and strategies for the ministries and departments associated with it, and their compatibility with the economic modernization roadmap and the public sector development plan.
On his part, Al-Shibli said that allocations in the fiscal year 2026 budget aim to start implementing national projects within the targets of the economic modernization roadmap.
He clarified that the most prominent of these developmental projects include, in the transport sector, the "Aqaba-Shidiya" railway project, in the water sector the national carrier project, and in the energy sector a gas exploration project, in addition to projects in other targeted sectors within the economic modernization roadmap.
