Khaberni - The Venezuelan military announced on Wednesday that the threats from American President Donald Trump "do not scare it" after he ordered a blockade on sanctioned oil tankers heading to or departing from Venezuela.
Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said during an event attended by senior leaders who pledged allegiance to President Nicolas Maduro: "We tell the American government and its president that we are not afraid of their harsh and arrogant threats."
The minister added, "There is no compromise on the dignity of this nation and no submission to anyone," according to "France Press."
Moreover, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced his country's support for Venezuela's efforts to protect its national sovereignty and oppose any form of unilateral pressure.
The press office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry quoted the minister as saying during a phone conversation with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil Pinto initiated by the Venezuelan side: "China and Venezuela are strategic partners with a relationship based on trust and mutual support. China opposes all forms of unilateral pressure and supports the efforts of all countries to protect their sovereignty and national dignity," according to the Russian agency "TASS."
The Chinese Foreign Minister pointed out that Venezuela has the full right to independently develop mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries.
He expressed confidence that the international community understands and supports Caracas's position in protecting its legitimate rights and interests.
In turn, Gil Pinto informed his Chinese counterpart about the current situation in his country. He affirmed that the government and people of Venezuela "will firmly defend the country's sovereignty and independence, protect their legitimate rights, and will not accept any threats stemming from a policy of force."
