FIFA officially announced the refereeing team for the Arab Cup 2025 final, including the Chinese referee Ma Ning as the fourth official.
Upon the official confirmation of the final’s refereeing team, Jordanian activists called on the Jordan Football Association to object to Ma Ning's presence in the final.
Ma Ning had previously officiated the Asia Cup final between Jordan and Qatar, and sparked controversy after awarding 3 penalties to the Qatar team during the final.
A Swedish Referee .. and Saudi-Qatari presence in VAR
FIFA decided to appoint Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg to officiate the final match.
Nyberg leads an international refereeing team comprised of his fellow countrymen, Mahboud Beigi as the first assistant referee, and Andreas Söderkvist as the second assistant referee, while the fourth official role was assigned to Chinese referee Ma Ning, assisted by his compatriot Zhou Wei as the reserve assistant referee.
At the level of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), FIFA has appointed Swiss referee Vida San as the video referee, assisted by Qatari Khamis Mohammed Al-Mari, along with Saudi Abdullah Zafar Al-Shahri as an additional assistant for the video technology.
The final match is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Lusail Stadium in the Qatari capital Doha, at 7:30 PM Jordanian capital Amman time (also Mecca and Doha time), where our national team, Jordan, will face Morocco in a strong match to decide the title of the current edition of the tournament.
