Renewal of Snowfall over the Heights of Tafilah Shoubak and Maan

Khaberni - Snowfall renewed on Wednesday afternoon over the heights of Tafilah, Shoubak, and Ma'an, where snow covered the heights in the Al-Heesha area of Shoubak, turning it into a "white coat," according to the Kingdom correspondent.

In Ma'an Governorate, the Director of Ma'an Public Works, Omran Al-Badour, announced that all external and internal roads in the governorate are passable despite the rainy weather that most areas are experiencing to varying degrees.

Al-Badour confirmed that the public works crews are working within a pre-prepared plan that includes ensuring the readiness of human resources, machinery, and equipment, and deploying them in relevant areas of the governorate to cope with the weather conditions.

In Tafilah, the Governor Sultan Al-Madi said that the main and subsidiary operations rooms in the official service departments and emergency teams, which were equipped with machinery and equipment, have been dealing since yesterday with soil erosion, water stagnations, and light snow accumulations in the southern highlands of the governorate, particularly in the South Sheriff area. He added that the rest of Tafilah areas are currently experiencing intermittent rainfall.

Al-Madi pointed out that traffic on the main road to the southern regions is cautiously passable due to light snowfall, freezing conditions, and heavy fog on several road sections. He urged users of the southern roads to be cautious, affirming that the operations rooms are working around the clock to monitor the situation on the roads and provide support to citizens in emergencies.

The Public Security Directorate has urged citizens to take necessary precautions amid the impact of a very cold Siberian air mass starting Wednesday morning. The directorate pointed out the importance of staying away from the edges of valleys and places where flash floods form, especially in the southern regions, including the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba.

The directorate also advised against approaching water accumulation sites and not to risk crossing roads if water levels rise. The directorate explained that there is a possibility of limited snow showers during the morning hours, which may be mixed with rain, necessitating caution while driving.

Regarding heating, the directorate emphasized the necessity of safe usage of heaters, not to refuel heaters while they are lit, not to leave them on during sleep, and the importance of providing adequate ventilation in the home. It also cautioned about the possibility of reduced horizontal visibility due to fog and the potential formation of ice during late night and early morning hours over high mountainous terrains and parts of the desert.

The Public Security Directorate urged citizens to follow weather reports issued by relevant authorities, and to contact the unified emergency number 911 in case of emergencies.
