Warning of Flash Floods in Southern Jordan

Khaberni - Khaberni - On Wednesday, a slight drop in temperatures is expected, and the weather will be cold in most regions, with God permitting, rain showers are anticipated during the morning hours in scattered parts of the northern and central regions, being light in the north of the kingdom.

Meanwhile, the southern regions of the kingdom will be affected by a more active rainy condition, where rain will fall over a wider area and at a steady pace.

According to the report, the rain will occasionally be heavy and may be accompanied by thunder and hail, leading to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the south of the kingdom, including the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba. Snow showers are also possible on high southern mountain peaks during the morning, sometimes mixed with rain. By evening and night, the chances of rain decrease and the weather stabilizes with moderate northwesterly winds activating occasionally.

The Meteorological Department warns in its report of the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the south of the kingdom including the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba, and of reduced horizontal visibility due to fog, especially over mountainous heights, and of the possibility of ice formation in the late night hours over high mountainous areas and parts of the desert, and of the risk of slipping on roads experiencing rainfall.

Maximum and minimum temperatures in East Amman will range between 9 - 5 degrees Celsius, and in West Amman 7 - 3, in the northern highlands 8 - 2, and in the Sharah highlands 6 - 1, and in the desert 11 - 5, and in the plains 10 - 6, and in the northern Jordan Valley 16 - 9, and in the southern Jordan Valley 20 - 13, and in the Dead Sea 19 - 12, and in the Gulf of Aqaba 19 - 13 degrees Celsius.

On Thursday, a slight rise in temperatures will occur, and the weather will remain cold in most areas until Saturday, but pleasantly warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will be moderate northwesterly.
