Khaberni - Following the death of the famous Turkish artist Gul Tut, known as "Gullu", in a mysterious way in September last year, her case has come to the forefront again with the Turkish security authorities detaining her daughter and a close friend months after the mysterious death of the well-known artist amid widespread speculation about a deliberate death, where the daughter's friend revealed a surprise during the investigations.
In detail, Turkish media revealed that the authorities charged Tugyan Ulkim Gultekin, the artist's daughter, and her friend when they tried to leave Turkish territory. They were arrested last Wednesday in an apartment in Buyukcekmece district in Istanbul based on contradictions in their statements about how the well-known artist fell from her fifth-floor apartment balcony in Yalova near Istanbul.
Sultan Nur Ulu, Tugyan’s friend, confessed that her friend "deliberately threw her mother out of the window." After this confession, she was released under judicial supervision, while Gullu's daughter was referred to the investigative judge, according to "CNN Turk".
While investigations are still ongoing to determine the reasons for the artist's fall, amid conflicting statements from the witnesses, the public prosecutor charged Tugyan and her friend with premeditated murder, based on several evidences, most notably the contradictions in their statements during the investigations. The owner of the car that transported them from Yalova to Istanbul and the owner of the apartment they were staying in were also arrested.
Rahmi Celik, the family's lawyer who represented Gullu, and his accompanying lawyers, announced their withdrawal from the case, confirming their cessation of representing Tugyan Ulkim Gultekin.
The details of the incident go back to the middle of the night of September 26, when Gullu was seen on surveillance cameras dancing to the music, then suddenly fell from her room's window, surprising the artistic community and her audience with her death.
Although the daughter denied any family disputes or crime suspicions, the forensic report indicated elevated alcohol levels in the deceased's blood, in addition to her consumption of anti-anxiety medications, which may have caused her to lose balance and fall.
Nevertheless, investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death in an attempt to uncover the details of the mysterious incident.
It is noted that the star Gullu was born in the Kasimpasa neighborhood of Beyoglu district in Istanbul in 1973, and began her artistic career at the age of fifteen by singing in wedding halls in 1988. The Turkish artist was known for her romantic songs within Arabesque music, and she achieved widespread fame in the 1990s. She briefly left the art scene after getting married, then returned after her divorce in 2000.
