Discovery Solves the Mystery of Longevity This is Why Some Live 100 Years

Khaberni - Scientists have discovered an important truth that might solve a perplexing puzzle regarding the variation in people's ages, as some enjoy long lives close to a hundred years, while others do not.

According to a report published by the "Indy100" site of the British newspaper "Independent", which was reviewed by "al-Arabiya.net", scientists found that people who live past 90 years possess fundamental differences in their blood composition.

This discovery may indicate that "longevity" is an innate or genetic trait, allowing for the future identification of long-lived individuals from birth.

The scientists point out that the long-lived are the fastest growing demographic globally, with their numbers doubling approximately every ten years since the 1970s.

Many researchers have sought to identify the factors and indicators contributing to longevity and good health, a topic that is not new, as Plato and Aristotle discussed the aging process more than 2300 years ago.

Understanding the reasons for longevity requires uncovering the complex interaction between genetic predisposition and lifestyle factors.

In a study published in the "GeroScience" journal, researchers revealed common biomarkers, including cholesterol and glucose levels, among individuals who lived beyond 90 years.

This study is one of the largest in its field, comparing the characteristics of biomarkers measured throughout the lifetime between those who surpassed 100 years and their shorter-lived peers.

The data were derived from 44,000 Swedes who underwent health checks between the ages of 64 and 99. The researchers followed these participants through Swedish records for up to 35 years. Among them, 2.7% reached 100 years, and 85% of these centenarians were females.

The study results showed that lower levels of glucose, creatinine - linked to kidney functions - and uric acid, a byproduct of the digestion of certain foods, were associated with reaching the age of a hundred years.

The results also suggest a potential link between metabolic health, nutrition, and extraordinary longevity.

Although the study did not allow for definitive conclusions, its authors added that it is reasonable to assume that factors such as nutrition and alcohol consumption play a role in this.
