Khaberni - Jordan's national team striker, Yazan Al-Naimat, is preparing to undergo knee surgery in the Qatari capital, Doha, this Wednesday, according to an official source in the local football federation to "AFP".
The striker for the Arabi Club of Qatar had sustained an injury with a torn ACL in his knee, an injury that will keep him out of the fields for several months. The injury occurred during a match of the Jordanian team against its Iraqi counterpart in the quarterfinals of the Arab Cup.
The coach of the Jordanian national team, Moroccan Jamal Salami, who led "Al Nashama" to their first World Cup participation in history, stated on Monday that the surgery's success rate is 100 percent, adding that "recovery and rehabilitation remain linked to the player’s will, body response, and mental preparation, hoping he joins the World Cup."
Al-Naimat "26 years old" was injured in the seventh minute of that match, and despite his perseverance and returning to the field after treatment, he had to leave his place for the youngster Awda Al-Fakhouri in the 13th minute, after feeling pain following a leap during standing in the human wall after a free kick by Iraq, leaving the field on a stretcher.
Al-Naimat is one of the key pillars in the Jordanian team along with French Rennes striker Moussa Al-Taamari, having played a pivotal role in Jordan's qualification to the World Cup and achieving a runner-up position in the last Asian Cup for the first time in history.
It is noteworthy that Jordan will participate in the World Cup in a group that includes the reigning champions Argentina, Algeria, and Austria. In related news, Al-Naimat has recently received attention from Al Ahly, champions of the Egyptian league.
