Khaberni - The British police charged two men today, Tuesday, with belonging to the banned Lebanese Hezbollah group supported by Iran, and attending terrorist training camps in Lebanon.
The two men were arrested at their homes in London in April, and were re-arrested last week when they were later charged with nine terrorism-related charges.
Dominic Murphy, head of counter-terrorism police in London said, "These arrests and charges came after a thorough investigation carried out by counter-terrorism police investigators in London who worked closely with many colleagues abroad in law enforcement."
He added, "I want to reassure the public that I do not consider there to be a threat at the moment to the public as a result of the activities of these two individuals."
Anis Makki (40 years old) was charged with attending a terrorist training camp at Berka Al-Jabur Airport in Lebanon in 2021, and involvement in preparing for terrorist acts, belonging to Hezbollah, and expressing support for Hezbollah and the banned Hamas movement.
Mohammad Hadi (33 years old) is also accused of belonging to Hezbollah and attending a training camp in Bafliye in southern Lebanon in 2015 and at Berka Al-Jabur Airport in 2021.
The two men are scheduled to appear before the Westminster Magistrates' Court later today.
