Khaberni - Media personality Amr Adeeb rejected the statements directed by artist Mohammed Sobhy to the makers of the film "El Set" regarding a conspiracy targeting Egyptian art through the work, considering that this proposal lacks a logical basis and ignores the nature of cinema industry in Egypt.
Amr Adeeb emphasized that the discussion about any artistic work should remain within its professional framework without attributing political dimensions or general accusations to it.
Adeeb clarified that the entities supporting the work did not intervene in the choice of the director, actors, or artistic elements, pointing out that support does not mean guardianship or direction.
The Egyptian media personality also stressed that the film was produced according to well-known mechanisms in the industry, with the participation of national production companies operating within the Egyptian market, deploring such statements coming from an artistic figure like Mohammed Sobhy.
Adeeb defended the film’s team, considering that accusing them of participating in a plot that insults Egyptian art represents a direct insult to their professional efforts, noting that the work underwent lengthy preparations, and that the audience and critics have the right to evaluate it artistically without doubting the intentions or affiliations.
Amr Adeeb accused the Egyptian artist Mohammed Sobhy of trying to cover up an incident where he lost his temper at his private driver a few days ago, with a bubble of criticism that does not represent reality. He continued his attack saying, "People will not forget the driver incident, Mr. Mohammed, and the film El Set will remain dignified, and it is shameful for such statements to come from a great artist like you, and I wonder when you were part of a huge production like this?".
Adeeb refused to direct insult and criticism towards the makers of "El Set", insisting that the entire work force is "Egyptian and national" and added: "Criticize people and do not betray them, and by the way, the Entertainment Authority did not intervene in any choice but only directed financial support amidst the difficult conditions faced by the Egyptian cinema."
It is worth mentioning that the film El Set starred a number of artists, and Mona Zaki played the main role in the work, alongside Sayed Ragab, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Tamer Nabil, Mohammed Farag, and a number of other actors. The film also included a group of guest stars, including Karim Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Helmy, Sidqi Sakhr, Taha Dasouki, and Asser Yassin, while Ahmed Murad wrote the screenplay, and the work was directed by Marwan Hamed.
