Khaberni - The area of licensed buildings in the kingdom increased by 12.3 percent during the first ten months of this year, reaching 8.2 million square meters, compared to 7.3 million square meters during the same period in 2024.
According to the monthly report of the Department of Statistics on construction activity and building permits in the kingdom, the total number of building permits issued in the kingdom was 20750 permits during the first ten months of 2025, compared to 19629 permits during the same period in 2024, with a growth rate of5.7 percent.
On a monthly basis, the licensed area increased from 740 thousand square meters in September 2025 to 1.018 million square meters in October 2025, with a monthly growth rate of37.6 percent.
Regarding the purposes of licensing, the survey by the Department of Statistics indicated that the area licensed for residential purposes reached 6.33 million square meters, compared with 5.82 million square meters, during the same period of 2024, with an increase of 8.8 percent, while the area of buildings licensed for non-residential purposes was about 1.87 million square meters, compared with about 1.43 million square meters during the same period of 2024, with an increase of 30.8 percent.
The area of buildings licensed for residential purposes accounted for 77 percent of the total licensed building area, and23 percent for non-residential purposes.
At the regional level, the central region accounted for 72 percent of the total licensed building area in the kingdom, with an increase of 6.8 percent, while the share of the northern region was 20 percent, with a decrease of 12.3 percent, and the southern region 8 percent, with a decrease of 18.4 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
In terms of the relative distribution of areas licensed for residential purposes based on the population in the provinces, the capital province recorded the highest rate, amounting to 13.3 percent, and an area of 0.726 square meters per person, while Zarqa province recorded the lowest rate of relative distribution of the individual's share of newly licensed residential areas, which was 4.7 percent, with an area of 0.256 square meters per person in the first ten months of 2025.
The area licensed for new buildings and additions to existing buildings accounted for 65.9 percent of the total licensed building area during the first ten months of 2025, while the area licensed for existing buildings accounted for 34.1 percent.
The total area of buildings licensed for new buildings and additions to existing buildings was about 5.4 million square meters, compared with about 4.6 million square meters, during the same period in 2024, with an increase of 17.4 percent.
