Humanlike Robot Completes Tedious Task Tirelessly

Khaberni - In an eye-catching scene that reflects the rapid development in the world of robotics, American company Figure AI released a video that lasts a full hour, showing a humanoid robot performing what seems to be a monotonous task for humans: sorting parcels non-stop.

The video was shared by Brent Adcock, founder and CEO of Figure AI, in response to a comment by one of the followers on the "X" platform who doubted the robot's ability to carry out routine and repetitive tasks, like sorting thousands of random parcels without mistakes. Adcock's response was practical, accompanied by the video, with a brief comment: "Is this boring enough?"

A calm performance rather than a spectacle
At a time when robotic combat or dance videos fill social media platforms, this video was different, focusing on a realistic task of practical value.

The clip shows the "Figure" robot precisely picking up bags and boxes, then determining the location of the label and placing the parcel on the conveyor belt with the label facing downwards.

Despite some moments where the robot faces minor difficulties in handling the parcel, the overall performance appears steady and fast, reflecting an advanced level of motor control and artificial intelligence.

This demonstration comes after a successful field trial that lasted 11 months at a BMW factory in South Carolina, where several versions of the Figure 02 robot participated in loading more than 90,000 pieces on the production lines, contributing to the manufacturing of over 30,000 X3 model cars.

Figure AI's vision focuses on developing versatile humanoid robots capable of performing laborious, monotonous, or unsafe tasks.

However, the path towards this goal is still full of challenges, the most notable being improving design efficiency, expanding the range of tasks the robot can perform, and reaching a stage of widespread commercial deployment.

As several companies around the world race to enter this field, economic entities in China recently warned of the potential formation of a bubble in the sector of humanoid robots locally.

With these rapid developments, it seems that the next year may hold big surprises in the world of humanoid robots, where performances alone are no longer sufficient, but efficiency in daily tasks is the real standard for progress.
