Khaberni - The sports circles have exchanged exciting news in the last few hours about the possibility of Saudi Arabia entering the line to acquire the Spanish club Barcelona, in a deal described as huge, despite the absence of any official confirmation from the Spanish or international media so far.
According to the circulated data, this information was released by a Spanish journalist, who confirmed possessing sensitive details about an imminent move by a major Gulf state, indicating that the coming days might bring surprising developments regarding the future of the Catalan club.
10 Billion on the Table
The same source clarified that if these news are confirmed, it would cause a strong shock inside and outside Spain, given the symbolic and historical value of Barcelona, which is one of the most prominent fan-owned clubs in world football.
The beginning of the controversy traces back to a post by François Gayardo, a former journalist at the program "Chiringuito," where he talked about a serious scenario involving Saudi Arabia's desire to fully buy the Catalan club.
Gayardo pointed out that the potential Saudi interest is linked to Barcelona's complex financial situation, with debts exceeding 2.5 billion euros, which, in his opinion, makes the club in need of radical investment solutions in the coming stage.
In his post, Gayardo claimed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman intends to advance an offer valued at 10 billion euros, considering that the largest obstacle to completing the deal would be the stance of Barcelona's fans and members.
Barcelona between the Socios, Debts, and Saudi Billions
Despite these allegations, the current legal data confirm that the Catalan club is not for sale, as it is owned by its members "Socios," and its ownership can only be transferred through substantial legal changes in its organizational structure.
Any potential acquisition scenario requires the club to first transform into a public sports company, which would allow selling its shares to investors, a step requiring complex procedures and official approval from the general assembly.
The position of the members of Barcelona who own it (the Socios) remains the decisive factor in this matter, as their approval is a fundamental condition for any radical transformation in the club’s identity, amid an expected division between preserving the historical model and opening up to unprecedented foreign investments.
