Khaberni - The Digital Skills Association launched on Monday the National Digital Skills Study for 2025 titled "Analysis of the Supply and Demand Gap for Digital Skills in the Information and Communications Technology Sector in Jordan", conducted as part of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs project at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
This was announced during a ceremony attended by the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Samirat, along with the participation of the Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Azmi Mahafzah, and numerous university presidents, representatives of the private sector, and donors.
The event featured an overview of the key findings of the study, which relied on a multi-source research methodology that included curriculum analysis, employer surveys, focus groups, quantitative data, and employment advertisement analysis to identify the most in-demand digital skills in the Jordanian market.
The results demonstrated the strength of the digital skills ecosystem in Jordan, where the number of graduates from information and communications technology specialties reached 12,000 during the years 2024/2025, thus reinforcing the kingdom's status as one of the leading countries in the region in providing qualified talents in this sector and bolstering its growing competitiveness in the digital economy.
The study also highlights that the workforce in the information and communications technology sector in Jordan reached 47,840 workers in 2025, with women making up 33% of the total workforce, although they represented only 4% in leadership positions.
This study, conducted by the Association every two years, reflects the rapid developments in the requirements of the digital job market and provides a precise analysis of the required skills in the information and communications technology sector and the extent to which higher education outputs meet these needs. The study aims to encourage the coordination of national efforts to enhance digital competitiveness and empower Jordanian youth with future skills.
Samirat emphasized in his speech during the event that the study represents an important milestone in the economic modernization path, highlighting that the development of digital skills has become a fundamental element in enhancing economic growth and creating quality job opportunities for youth. He called for enhancing the integration between education, training, and the private sector to ensure the outputs are aligned with the evolving job market needs.
He stated that the real value of this study would be manifested in our ability to translate its recommendations into practical steps and measurable achievements, asserting that building a strong national digital skills system requires joint efforts integrating the work of universities, training institutions, the private sector, and government bodies. He added that the ministry is committed to following up on the study's results and translating them into executive initiatives in cooperation with all stakeholders, thus opening new horizons for Jordanian youth and enhancing Jordan’s presence on the regional and international digital economy map.
Alaa Nashiwat, Chairman of the Digital Skills Association, said that this study is conducted in response to an urgent national need to understand the reality of digital skills and identify the gaps that hinder the readiness of young talents for the modern job market.
He added that the Association, by implementing the skills dimension within the "Youth, Technology, and Jobs" project, is developing a training system based on a scientific analysis of the actual required skills, asserting that the study results form an important reference for guiding national policies and enhancing the young people's ability to compete in the global digital economy.
Fadi Qutaishat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Information Technology and Communications Companies Association "Intaj," said that launching this report constitutes a comprehensive roadmap that integrates the educational system, the private sector, and policymakers, particularly the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Accreditation Authority, aiming to align educational outputs with job market needs.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled "Towards the Integration of Efforts to Meet the Requirements of the Digital Economy," with participation from training experts, representatives of the private sector, and developmental program partners, where mechanisms to enhance the digital skills system and the continuously evolving needs for modern digital skills in the job market were discussed. Participants emphasized the importance of the study as a national reference providing accurate data to support decision-makers in developing digital skills development programs, enabling youth to benefit from opportunities in the digital economy and enhancing their participation in building the digital economy.
The launch of the 2025 study represents a comprehensive update to the previous study launched in 2022 as part of joint efforts between the government, private sector, and supporting international institutions to enhance digital competitiveness in Jordan and support policies and programs to prepare a generation capable of meeting modern job market requirements.
