Khaberni - Petra University achieved the ninety-sixth rank in the "Times" ranking for higher education for Arab universities for the year 2025, registering an advancement exceeding forty ranks compared to last year, and achieved a total score of 32.1 points.
The President of Petra University, Professor Dr. Rami Abdel Rahim, said that the sharp rise in the ranking is not just a number, but the fruit of a strategic decision to invest in research minds and to open the university doors to the world, adding that this achievement is an important step in enhancing the reputation of Jordanian higher education on the regional level.
The university scored 60.7 in the "Quality of Research" axis, which measures the extent to which scientists and researchers worldwide rely on Petra University’s studies as reliable references for building new discoveries, in addition to measuring the impact of the university's scientific output globally.
The Director of Quality Assurance, Planning and Measurement Unit, Dr. Ahmad Al-Qasem, explained that the progress in the "Quality of Research" criterion reflects the success of the researchers in publishing their knowledge products in international scientific journals.
The university also scored 67.4 in the "International Outlook" axis, and this result indicates that the campus has transformed into a diverse global environment that attracts students and faculty members from various nationalities, in addition to the university researchers achieving joint scientific research across borders with their counterparts in global universities.
The Assistant President for Agreements and International Cooperation, Dr. Kenza Mansour, confirmed that the rise in the "International Outlook" index reflects the success of the university’s efforts in activating agreements and partnerships, and making it an attractive educational and research destination on the international level.
The "Industry" axis, in which the university scored 17.5, measures the university's ability to move from laboratories to providing solutions and innovations that drive the commercial sector to invest in them. It is worth mentioning that the university has succeeded in transforming inventions into commercial products, such as the "Speak" project as a startup, and the production of vitamin-enhanced chocolate in cooperation with factories, contributing to creating new job opportunities and transforming scientific knowledge into economic value.
It is noted that the results were announced during the Arab Universities Summit 2025, organized by "Times", and hosted by Amman Ahliyya University in partnership with Jordanian University.
