Khaberni - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing continues to implement the directive issued by the Council of Ministers, ordering the commencement of procedures for issuing tenders for the preparation of studies, engineering designs, and bid documents for several projects to be established within Umrah City project, as part of the executive steps taken by the government to advance this new developmental project.
The ministry clarified that this directive comes in light of the government's direction to develop a modern and specialized facility for motor sports in Umrah City, including a car racing track with advanced technical specifications, along with a karting track dedicated to amateurs and entertainment and training activities, contributing to the support of niche sports and enhancing sports tourism and attracting local, regional, and international events.
The ministry indicated that the tasks it will continue to undertake include preparing comprehensive engineering and architectural designs according to best international practices and established safety standards, focusing on operational efficiency and economic viability, using local materials whenever possible, and adopting sustainable, environmentally friendly solutions that consider environmental and economic sustainability requirements.
The ministry added that the designs will respect the local character and identity, providing a comprehensive and safe experience for participants and visitors, in addition to preparing all the necessary tender documents and executive plans for the implementation stage, on the condition that the project is designed in a way that allows future development to conform to international standards for motor sports, without this forming a commitment in the current phase.
In this context, Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Maher Abu Al-Semn, stated that the ministry has begun taking the necessary technical measures to follow up on the task, pointing out that the ministry's teams will work on preparing comprehensive and precise studies and designs that ensure the implementation of the project according to the highest technical and engineering standards.
Abu Al-Semn said that Umrah City project represents one of the new national projects that reflect the government's vision in modern urban planning, highlighting that the city aims to achieve comprehensive developmental, economic, and demographic dimensions by providing advanced infrastructure, creating job opportunities, and stimulating investment in special sectors, foremost among them sports tourism.
The minister noted that the intended motor sports facility will create added value to the national economy, enhancing Jordan's position on the sports tourism map, underscoring the ministry's commitment to ensuring that designs are flexible and amenable to future development, and align with international standards without imposing additional obligations on the state in the initial stages.
