AlBakkar welcomes the transfer of Egyptian expertise in oil exploration to Jordanian youth

Khaberni - Labor Minister Khaled Al-Bakkar discussed on Monday with the head of the Egyptian General Petroleum Union Abbas Saber the aspects of labor union cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the field of qualifying and training youth on available job opportunities in the petroleum and gas sector and petrochemicals.

Al-Bakkar affirmed the strength of the Jordanian-Egyptian relations and the mutual keenness of both countries to consult and exchange views on all issues, under clear directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Al-Bakkar emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences between the two countries and benefiting from the rich Egyptian experience in the field of oil and gas exploration and the petrochemical sector, and the job opportunities these sectors provide for skilled and trained hands that join the companies operating in this field.

The minister welcomed any cooperation with the Egyptian side through the unions in Jordan and Egypt and in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Labor to transfer Egyptian expertise to Jordanian youth to work in this vital sector, calling for the unions to play a role in the field of training and qualification specific to each union, in addition to their fundamental role in defending the labor rights of their members.

In turn, the head of the Egyptian General Petroleum Union Abbas Saber emphasized the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries and working to enhance this cooperation in the field of labor affairs, vocational training, and occupational safety and health.

Abbas added that Egypt has made long and advanced strides in the field of petroleum, gas, and chemicals, expressing the union's readiness, in cooperation between the labor ministries of the two countries, to transfer Egyptian expertise to Jordanians eager to work in these fields.

On his part, the head of the Jordanian General Union for Petroleum and Chemicals Workers, Khaled Al-Ziyoud, said that the union is ready to enhance cooperation between the Jordanian and Egyptian unions in coordination with the labor ministers of the two countries regarding the exchange of experiences between the two sides in the fields of oil and gas exploration.

Al-Ziyoud appreciated the openness maintained by the Ministry of Labor by engaging with production stakeholders, employers, and labor to serve in providing job opportunities for Jordanian youth, training them and enabling them to enter the labor market in a safe and decent work environment.
