Khaberni - The workshop on "Agricultural Marketing," organized by the International Labor Organization in collaboration with the Jordanian Association of Vegetable and Fruit Exporters and Producers under the project "System" funded by the Regional Development and Protection Program (RDPP recommended the establishment of a platform within the Ministry of Agriculture that contains all agricultural sector data, including cultivated areas, and identifies different needs to avoid duplicating projects and to understand the requirements of foreign markets through this platform.
The workshop, which included the Ministry of Agriculture, the Director of the Central Market Department, the Ministry of Labor, Advance Consulting, the Jordanian-Palestinian Company for Marketing Agricultural Products, and the Economic Development, Rural Development, and Employment Project, recommended the establishment of specialized cooperative societies that work at all stages of marketing to enhance quality which, in turn, improves the farmers’ situation.
It also called for the establishment of a national committee to develop the marketing sector from all relevant sides, regulate production, and establish a packaging bank managed by a specific department with standardized packaging.
Additionally, the workshop recommended holding regular meetings for the Agricultural Calendar Committee with all production sectors throughout the year and opening up new export markets.
The workshop also recommended the emergence of specialized workshops from this workshop, along with establishing food processing factories in the capital and provinces concerned with cooling and drying to accommodate surplus from farmers, with sorting and packaging laboratories in the central market.
The association stated that organizing this workshop recognizes the pivotal role that agricultural marketing plays in supporting the national economy, empowering farmers, and improving the accessibility of agricultural products to local and foreign markets.
